My major Environmental Psychology is a major heavily based in and around Adventure Education and Environmental Science. Both of these fields struggle with diversity and are forever striving to have a safe balanced workplace no matter what that may look like. Currently Environmental Science is considered one of the least diverse fields of science with an underrepresentation of minority groups, particularly people of color. This unfortunately is the same in Adventure Education. Some of the factors impacting diversity includes, access to education, implicit biases, and cultural considerations. With more diversity in these fields it may lead to better tailored environmental solutions to specific communities. Along with addressing issues related to environmental justice. Some ways in which we can promote diversity include the following: Inclusive hiring practices, out reach programs, curriculum development, and mentorship programs.
