Environmental Psychology is a mix between Environmental Science, Psychology, and Adventure Education. With this these three majors combined, it not only allows me to understand the human better but also allows me to better communicate and teach people about the outdoors. My major is a salad, with each part being better off staying separate. To me keeping the three majors separate helps to broaden my views and understand things in a different light. Through my interdisciplinary journey it is clear that in all three fields different perspectives are needed. Coming from an ESP and outdoor loving background Adventure Education came easy to me, however Psychology did not. I discovered very quickly a lot of the psychology classes use abstract thinking. A completely foreign area for myself. My first class, Social Psychology was a wake up call for what I was getting myself into and showed me that there were so many new things I can learn, outside of the environmental fields.
